Job Overview

The Props Artisan is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining props for theatre productions. This role involves working with a variety of materials to build or alter props to match the design specifications. This position requires a creative individual with strong crafting skills and knowledge of theatrical props construction.

Responsibilities
  • Create, modify, and maintain props for theatre productions and events using a variety of materials.
  • Collaborate with the Props Supervisor to ensure all props are completed to the highest standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace and assist during load-ins and load-outs.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
  • Assist with shop maintenance and inventory updates to ensure a clean and organized workspace.
  • Other duties as assigned by Production Management
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in a variety of crafting and prop-making techniques.
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with different materials and tools.
  • Experience with theatrical props construction and modification.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license is preferred
  • Must be willing to work with volunteers and students
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs
