Applications are open for Barrington Stage Company’s 2026 Musical Theatre Conservatory , an exceptional, tuition-free 8-week intensive for pre-professional musical theatre performers.

Barrington Stage Company is a non-profit theatre in the beautiful Berkshires dedicated to producing outstanding work, developing new plays and musical, and fostering community engagement through inclusive educational outreach. The Musical Theatre Conservatory exemplifies our commitment to education and the BSC mission.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Program Dates:
June 1, 2026 - July 24, 2026

12 participants will be selected to join the conservatory.

Candidates should possess strong musical theatre skills and have completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate-level training or its equivalent.

Pre-professional performers will be trained by Barrington Stage Associate Artists and visiting industry professionals. The program features a rigorous daily curriculum, including acting, singing, and dance workshops, alongside courses in performance, business, audition techniques, mock auditions, and master classes. Participants will showcase their talents on two BSC Mainstages:
Mr. Finn’s Cabaret and the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage. Over 8 weeks, they will sharpen their skills and prepare confidently for the professional world.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

First Round application must submit the following:

  • Performing Resume
  • Headshot
  • Video Submissions (detailed below under Audition Requirements)
  • Letter of Recommendation from a director/educator/mentor
  • Personal statement (less than 600 words):
    Please describe your journey as an artist, reflect on your strengths and challenges, and explain how BSC: MTC will help you grow.

Following the initial submission review, selected applicants will be invited for a second-round interview and live audition, both conducted on Acceptd.

  • TWO contrasting 32-bar cut musical selections and ONE dance reel or monologue (under 2 minutes).

There is limited space available. MTC 2026 has a highly competitive application process, and candidates are encouraged to apply early.

Final date to receive applications:
March 15, 2026

* Priority consideration will be given on a first-come basis.

All complete submissions must be received by March 15, 2025.

COST

MTC is a tuition-free program , fully funded by generous sponsors, covering all costs related to the program and housing. Students are accountable for their personal living expenses, such as food and transportation.
