Are you a detail-oriented individual with an interest in inventory control and warehouse operations as a long-term career path? The Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and dependable Corrections Stock Clerk to join our team. In this vital role, you will manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of stock and supplies within the warehouse and commissary area at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands.

In this position, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing supplies and commissary orders within the facility. Key duties will include accepting deliveries from vendors, verifying receipt documentation, inspecting materials, matching packing slips with purchase orders, and ensuring product safety during unloading. You will process commissary orders, distribute items to inmates, and maintain accurate transaction records. Additionally, you will train and supervise inmate workers to confirm timely and proper completion of assignments.

This role further requires preparing routine reports and safely operating various equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and delivery vehicles to transport large or heavy items.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with holidays off.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $43,543.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • One year of stockroom, warehouse, retail sales, or clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
