Hybrid 4 in Pittsburgh, PA The organization is launching a secure, fault-tolerant Azure platform for high-volume data ingestion, ledger-based recordkeeping, and analytics for a controlled user base. This backend-focused full-stack role emphasizes Java, Spring Boot, AKS, and distributed systems with strong consistency and zero data loss targets. Engineers will design resilient, geo-distributed services and collaborate on a small Angular front end.

Candidates should be comfortable with accelerated timelines and AI-assisted development workflows. This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $70.00 to $80.00/hr. w2 Responsibilities:
* Design and build Java and Spring Boot microservices deployed to Azure Kubernetes Service.
* Implement high-volume, fault-tolerant data processing pipelines with strong delivery guarantees.
* Ensure persistent and reliable input delivery to remove client resend requirements.
* Build and maintain ledger-style recordkeeping services for confidential datasets.
* Orchestrate API-based service calls between internal systems and external partners.
* Design multi-region Azure deployments targeting ≤ 10-minute RPO and ≤ 1-hour RTO.
* Implement caching and buffering strategies leveraging Azure Blob Storage initially, with roadmap integration to Kafka and Redis.
* Contribute to a small Angular front end supporting analytics and reporting views.
* Collaborate across services to ensure secure data access and consistent user experience.
* Design for geo-distributed resiliency, queuing, and persistence using Azure-native services.
* Align systems with U.S. Government security standards and support production deployments and operational readiness.
* Leverage AI-assisted and agentic coding tools to accelerate development and improve workflow. Experience Requirements:
* Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
* Hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure.
* Experience with AKS and Kubernetes operations.
* Background in distributed systems, fault tolerance, and high-volume data processing.
* Knowledge of persistent messaging, queuing, and caching patterns.
* Familiarity with Angular for full-stack contributions.
* Experience working with confidential or regulated data and aligning to security controls.
* Demonstrated use of AI tools in software development and ability to articulate workflow impact.
* Kafka, Redis, or other event-streaming platforms (preferred).
* Oracle databases with a small footprint (preferred).
* Multi-region Azure architecture design (preferred).
* Analytics and reporting system experience (preferred).
* Prior work in government, regulated, or high-security environments (preferred).
* Experience delivering under tight timelines with evolving requirements (preferred).
