Structured Orientation for Success
* Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.
-3 p.m.
* Supportive preceptors and hands-on exposure to OR nursing
Flexible, Balanced Scheduling
* After orientation: most shifts fall between 6:30 a.m.
-7:00 p.m.
* Rotating evening and night shifts based on departmental needs
* Self-scheduling model to help support work-life balance

About the UPMC Shadyside OR
* 24 state-of-the-art OR suites
* Specialties include:
Neuro, ENT, Ortho, Vascular, Urology, Plastics, Thoracic, Robotics & more
* Strong oncology patient focus
* 40+ surgical cases daily - fast-paced, diverse, and never routine!
What You'll Do
* Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care using our Relationship-Based Care Model
* Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and fellow nurses
* Apply advanced critical thinking and assessment skills in a surgical environment
* Participate in patient goal-setting and care planning
* Communicate and document care effectively
* Build meaningful relationships with patients, families, and teammates
* Perform scrub role duties
* Receive placement on our nursing career ladder based on your experience and education
Qualifications:
* 2+ years of nursing experience STRONGLY preferred.
* Operating room experience is preferred but not required.
* Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
* Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.
Licensure/Certification
* Registered Nurse (RN)
* UPMC approved national certification preferred.
* Fit Testing Required
* Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
* Act 33 with renewal
* Act 34 with renewal
* Act 73 FBI Clearance
