As a member of the Early Childhood Division, the Kindergarten Teacher welcomes students into their first formal school experience by creating a warm, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment. This teacher supports each child’s growth in faith while fostering social, emotional, and intellectual development. Through developmentally appropriate learning experiences, the ideal candidate will spark curiosity, build a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy, and encourage a lifelong love of learning, while partnering with colleagues and families to support the development of the whole child.

Responsibilities

Work in close partnership with the grade-level teaching partner to plan and implement lessons aligned with established curriculum goals, while contributing to ongoing curriculum development and review.

Differentiate instruction and provide targeted support to meet the varied learning needs of individual students.

Use ongoing formative and summative assessments in reading and math to monitor student progress.

Collaborate with Early Childhood faculty, including specialist teachers, to create a cohesive and integrated learning experience for students.

Maintain open and timely communication with parents regarding student progress, growth, and any areas of concern.

Support and embody the school’s mission and educational philosophy as inspired by the foundress, Cornelia Connelly.

Keep accurate attendance records and complete report cards in a timely manner.

Fulfill supervisory responsibilities, including lunch, recess/playground, and dismissal duties.

Support school events held after hours or on weekends, as available.

Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings.

Meet regularly with the Division Director and teaching partner to support planning, alignment, and professional growth.

Carry out additional responsibilities consistent with the role as assigned by the Head of School.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or related field

Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience at the Kindergarten elementary teaching experience

Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with parents, children, and colleagues
