Senior Accountant
Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)
$80,000 - $110,000

An established and growing organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its U.S. finance team. This role plays a key part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, supporting timely month-end close processes, and ensuring strong financial controls. The position also contributes to the ongoing modernization of the finance function.

The role is hands-on and accounting-focused, with exposure to financial reporting, analysis, and ERP transformation initiatives. The Senior GL Accountant will collaborate closely with FP&A, operations, sales, and HR teams while maintaining a strong focus on accounting quality, compliance, and internal control.

OVERVIEW OF THE SENIOR ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

  • Support and execute month-end and year-end close activities in accordance with U.S. GAAP and international accounting standards.
  • Perform account reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and ensure accurate account classifications.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely and well-documented manner.
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and external audit deliverables.
  • Contribute to strengthening internal controls and improving accounting processes.
  • Manage sales tax reporting and filings in coordination with external advisors.
  • Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget, forecast, and prior year) and explain key drivers.
  • Prepare monthly analytical reports to support management decision-making.
  • Assist with KPI reporting and data validation in collaboration with FP&A.
  • Monitor budget adherence and cost center performance.
  • Identify risks or unusual trends based on accounting insights.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE SENIOR ACCOUNTANT:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of relevant U.S. accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Dynamics or Navision experience is a plus).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI is a plus.
