Position Overview:
The Maintenance Mechanic is a crucial member of the Total-Western team, responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and machinery critical to our industrial operations. This role supports a wide range of mechanical systems and directly contributes to Total-Western's mission of delivering safe, reliable, and efficient service to our clients. The Maintenance Mechanic will work closely with our operations and engineering teams to maintain equipment performance, support operational continuity, and promote a culture of safety and quality in every task.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on various industrial machinery, including pumps, motors, compressors, and conveyor systems, to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose mechanical issues and execute corrective actions promptly, working with operations teams to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to Total-Western's safety protocols, performing risk assessments and following OSHA regulations to promote a safe work environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and part replacements, to support transparent communication and effective planning.
- Parts and Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels for tools, spare parts, and consumables, coordinating with procurement as needed to ensure minimal disruption to maintenance operations.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with other mechanics, engineers, and project teams to support larger maintenance and installation projects, sharing expertise and fostering teamwork.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to process improvement by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, better maintenance practices, and enhanced safety measures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a similar role, preferably within sectors like oil and gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools and equipment common to industrial settings.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and reliability.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a customer-oriented mindset and attention to detail.
- Additional certifications, such as an EPA refrigerant handling certification or a welding certification, are advantageous.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software for tracking maintenance activities and scheduling.
- Prior experience in the oil and gas, aerospace, or renewable energy industries is a plus.
- Field-based role with regular exposure to industrial environments and outdoor conditions.
- Will require occasional lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods, along with strict adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
- Occasional travel to various sites within California, the Pacific Northwest, and Arizona, as needed.
The Maintenance Mechanic reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will collaborate with engineering teams and other maintenance personnel on complex repair and maintenance projects.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: $28 - $33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
