Helping Open Pathways to Education (HOPE):
When students can remain at their schools and receive the supports they need, they are more likely to be successful academically, have better peer and family relationships, and build confidence for a strong future. The Lincoln Families HOPE Program provides integrated behavioral supports for students, families, and schools to develop tools and learning environments for academic success across all levels:

  • Teacher Consultation:
    General support, classroom observation, and consultation with educators to maximize student achievement and reduce behavior problems.
  • Student Counseling:
    Intensive services to students whose emotional and behavioral needs are creating obstacles to their success at school.
  • Whole School Supports:
    Working with administrators in the integration of school wide culture initiatives and climate improvement strategies, and the facilitation of counseling groups that address common student issues.

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to a Clinical Supervisor, a HOPE Clinician is responsible for providing direct clinical services to youth and their families in a school setting; offering mental health perspective to school community; completing all clinical documentation to support treatment; and providing clinical consultation to the treatment team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Be primary mental health professional for a caseload of 15-20 youth who are exhibiting emotional or behavioral needs, which includes conducting intakes, assessment of psychotherapeutic and case management needs of youth and families, providing clinically relevant services including individual, group, and family therapy, and collaborative discharge planning.
  • Work collaboratively within the school community to provide services in support of the caseload and the school community as a whole, such as consultation and/or trainings to school staff; crisis intervention to youth in need; participation in the school’s coordinated services teams.
  • Ensure culturally responsive and relevant treatment planning and services.
  • Participate in summer therapeutic program.
  • Collaborate with other involved agencies.
  • Meet agency expectations regarding levels of direct service.
  • Meet agency, county, and state standards and deadlines for documentation. The maintenance of ongoing service documentation generally occurs after school hours due to the prioritization of providing services to youth in the milieu for entire school day.
  • Provide supervision and/or consultation to assigned practicum students and volunteers.
  • Participate in team meetings, treatment reviews, IEPs and other case conferences as needed.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, individual and group, as assigned.
  • Requires occasional driving during the school year to conduct meetings at homes, schools or other sites and accompanying youth on therapeutic community outings. During our summer programming, driving requirements include transporting youth between various locations. (Clinician must have a valid CA driver’s license, personal automobile insurance and satisfactory driving record.)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Passion for providing mental health services in a school setting and partnering with youth and families experiencing significant stress, centering their experiences and knowledge. Experience providing strengths-based, trauma-focused care and dedication to practicing cultural humility in all relationships. Ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams, engage in supervisory consultation as needed, and exhibit autonomous decision-making.
