Role DescriptionThe Capital Projects Leader is responsible for end-to-end leadership of site capital projects, construction execution, plant turnarounds, and long-term asset renewal programs, including electrolytic cell renewal. This role provides single-point accountability for safety, cost, schedule, and operational readiness across complex, high-risk work.
The Capital Projects Leader leads Project Managers, Project Engineers, Construction Managers, Turnaround Management, and Cell Renewal resources, ensuring disciplined execution, strong coordination, and predictable outcomes in a safety-critical industrial environment.
Responsibilities- Own delivery of the site’s capital, construction, turnaround, and asset renewal portfolio
- Establish prioritization, sequencing, and resource allocation
- Lead projects from concept through commissioning and handover
- Direct on-site construction execution with strong contractor oversight
- Plan and execute plant turnarounds and major outages
- Lead electrolytic cell renewal programs and long-range planning
- Enforce safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance
- Own capital budgets, forecasts, cost control, and change management
- Serve as the primary escalation point for execution issues
- Develop people, processes, and a strong performance culture
- Project and turnaround prioritization and sequencing
- Capital and change approvals within defined limits
- Contractor selection and performance management
- 10+ years experience in industrial capital projects, construction, or turnarounds
- Proven leadership of complex, safety-critical execution
- Strong knowledge of project management, construction, and asset renewal
- Engineering or technical degree strongly preferred
