Responsibilities- Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules;
- Creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas, and promotes critical thinking;
- Evaluating students’ progress regarding educational matters and grading their work;
- Meeting with students outside of class as needed;
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
- Keeping current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
- Fulfilling the professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member;
- Maintaining accurate academic records;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty;
- Master's degree in political science, government, international relations, or a related discipline, or a Bachelor's degree in any of the above plus a Master's in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, a Juris Doctor (J.D.), a Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.), or equivalent; or submission of a master’s equivalency form.
- Interest in teaching college courses at high school sites (dual enrollment);
- Demonstrated commitment to student learning and to promoting the success of all students in an open-access learning environment;
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to motivate and teach community college students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, cultures, learning styles, and/or disabilities;
- Commitment to professional growth and development and to innovation and improvement of teaching practices.
