Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory/Tech Asst - Casual for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
* Performs experiments to reduce transition and rare earth metal ions to metals.
* Performs nitridation studies on some or all of them.
FLSA Nonexempt Salary Details $20 - $25/hourly Offer Information

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Laboratory safety methodology, such as, the appropriate use of fume hoods, hazardous organic and inorganic chemicals, and proper use of high-temperature furnaces.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a laboratory.
* Experience handling pyrophoric materials.
* Familiarity with organic and inorganic chemistry.
* Knowledge of inert atmosphere handling procedures.
Equipment Utilized
* Schlenk glassware, glovebox usage and maintenance, particle size, thermal analysis, x-ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy instrumentation.
