Role
Description:
This is a full‑time, on‑site role for an Ophthalmic Assistant based in Vestavia, Al. The Ophthalmic Assistant will support eye care professionals by preparing patients for eye examinations, taking medical histories, performing ophthalmic testing, and assisting with procedures as needed. Responsibilities also include using diagnostic equipment such as fundus cameras, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
As part of a collaborative team, the Ophthalmic Assistant will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Ophthalmology and Optometry‑related diagnostic procedures such as Fundus Photography
- Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology and understanding of Medicine related to eye care
- Experience as a Scribe or similar role, with attention to detail in documenting medical information accurately
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with both patients and team members
- Ability to assist in clinical procedures with precision and professionalism
- Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or higher‑level certifications are a plus
- Prior experience in an ophthalmology or optometry practice is preferred
