Responsibilities
Obtain vital signs and general health information for patient charts and prepare patients for examination.Maintain up-to-date patient health records, especially regarding pain assessment and medication sheets.Ensure documentation is complete, concise, and accurate.Prepare and maintain exam rooms and medical equipment for patient visits, adhering to safety checks and HIPAA guidelines.Assist in planning of care for patients, utilizing principles to reduce medication errors.Demonstrate initiative in problem-solving and service planning.Triages patients and enters data into EMR accurately, paying attention to detail.Navigate EMR system efficiently and promote quality care management.Answer phones, route calls, and take accurate messages.Manage scheduling, register new patients, and update demographic and insurance information.Identify barriers related to Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and notify providers.Verify insurance eligibility and process patient referrals.Monitor referral queues and assist in follow-up to ensure patient compliance.Forward requests for Medical Records to Health Information Management.Ensure correct order entry to capture charges and process medication refills per guidelines.Identify and address barriers to patient needs, including financial, emotional, physical, cultural, or spiritual.Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism in all clinical situations.Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited program for Certified Medical Assistants/Registered Medical Assistants, or hold an LPN license, or NC Paramedic/AEMT certification. Prefer at least one year of clinical experience in a physician office setting.
Physical Requirements Ability to access all facility areas; communicate clearly; maintain visual and hearing acuity; withstand long periods of walking, standing, sitting; perform occasional lifting, bending, and stooping.
