Certified Surgical Tech / Certified First Assist

Provide surgical support in the operating room, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processes.

Note:

This role is for a Certified Surgical Tech; first assistant duties are not included.

• Communicates effectively with a wide range of age groups, including those with diverse backgrounds.
• Displays effective organizational skills, with ability to prioritize accurately and quickly.
• Maintains clinical and professional competency levels required of age‑specific populations and all aspects of surgical technology in the perioperative care process.

• Ability to access entire facility, lift, transport patients, supplies, and equipment.
• Demonstrates manual dexterity, hearing acuity, and verbal ability.
• Stands for long periods, walks, lifts, bends, and stoops for much of the workday.
• Has efficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods.
• Exposed to blood/body fluids, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.
• Participates in creating a safety culture by always optimizing treatment safety.
• Deals with frustration and stress appropriately.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with other staff, physicians, and shift supervisors.
• Works weekends, holidays, and shift rotations as needed.
• Critical service availability during inclement weather and disasters.
• Available for on-call rotation as needed.

• Graduate of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technology.
• OR Graduate of a training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, or Air Force.
• Obtains an accredited surgical technologist certification credential within 12 months after completing the program and maintains certification.
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support).
