The Registration Coordinator is responsible for patient registration, verification of insurance benefits, pre-certifications, and verification of demographic information.
ResponsibilitiesThe Registration Coordinator manages patient registration, verifies insurance benefits, handles pre-certifications, and confirms demographic details. Responsibilities also include payment collection and posting, as well as assisting with financial aid applications as needed.
This position is deemed
* essential*. Essential staff are expected to report to work during inclement weather.
Bilingual skills preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and shift rotations as needed.
The following, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements to perform the essential functions of this position:
Education/formal training/licensure/certification/experience:
High school graduate (or equivalent). Understanding of medical terminology. Two years’ experience in a medical-related field preferred.
Additional Skills:
Strong verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in an organized manner. Must be able to type at least 35 wpm and be computer literate. A commitment to excellent customer service when dealing with all patients, internal and external, is essential.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Primary office environment/workstation. Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
- Stooping:
Bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist. - Crouching:
Bending the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine. - Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Medium physical effort required to lift up to 40 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Essential Sensory Requirements:
- Talking:
Expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken words; able to read, write, speak, and understand English. - Hearing:
Perceiving sound via the ear. - Visual acuity:
Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; near acuity: clarity at 20 inches or less.
Essential Mental Requirements:
- Ability to perform under frequent stressful situations.
Exposure to Hazards:
- Constant exposure to chemicals, infectious agents, electrical and fire hazards. Exposure to blood and body fluids requiring Biohazard protection.
