- Obtain vital signs and general health information for patient charts and prepare patients for examination.
- Maintain patient health records, especially regarding pain assessment and current medications.
- Ensure documentation is complete, concise, and correct.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms and medical equipment for patient visits, adhering to safety checks and HIPAA guidelines.
- Contribute to the care plan for individuals and groups, utilizing all principles to reduce medication errors.
- Demonstrate initiative in suggesting and implementing problem-solving approaches and planning service performance.
- Triages patients, enters accurate and concise data into the EMR, and navigates the system efficiently.
- Facilitates quality care management through best practice utilization of the clinic EMR.
- Promotes continuity of care with appropriate documentation and follow-up.
- Answers phones, routes calls, and takes accurate messages.
- Triages basic patient care needs, generating telephone encounters as needed.
- Manages scheduling, registers new patients, and maintains current demographic and insurance information.
- Identifies barriers related to Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and notifies providers.
- Verifies insurance eligibility, scans insurance cards, and processes referrals.
- Monitors referral queues, follows up to ensure patient compliance, and contacts patients with test results.
- Ensures orders are entered correctly to capture charges and refills medications per guidelines.
- Addresses barriers related to patient's individual needs, including financial, emotional, physical, cultural, or spiritual.
- Provides excellent customer service, demonstrating sensitivity to patient satisfaction.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Graduate of an accredited program for Certified Medical Assistants/Registered Medical Assistants or LPN license or NC Paramedic/AEMT. Prefer at least one year of clinical experience in a physician's office setting.
Physical RequirementsAbility to access all areas of the facility; communicate clearly; visual and hearing acuity; withstand long periods of walking, standing, sitting; occasional lifting, bending, and stooping.
