Overview
Sandhills Community College seeks a dedicated full-time EMS Instructor. The instructor will prepare and deliver high-quality didactic and laboratory instruction consistent with the National EMS Education Standards and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) requirements, while upholding Sandhills Community College’s standards of instructional excellence. This 40-hour per week position devotes approximately 70% of time to classroom and laboratory instruction and 30% to field and clinical education coordination.
The instructor will serve as Lead Instructor for the WCE Paramedic Program. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Provide effective and high-quality EMS instruction which aligns with certification standards and SCC instructional requirements.
- Maintain accurate course records and submit college reports in a timely fashion.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration at the college.
- Respond to emails from students, colleagues, Directors, Deans, Vice Provost, Provost, and President in a timely and professional fashion.
- Demonstrate college-wide competencies of Integrity, Excellence, Respect, Opportunity, and Helpfulness.
- Minimum of three years of work experience in EMS
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
- Current certifications of HCP, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS/PHTLS Instructor
- Associate’s degree in a field appropriate for the position
- Certification as an EMT Paramedic Level I or II Instructor
- Experience teaching at the college level
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- 5 or more years of work experience in EMS
