Sandhills Community College is looking to expand its pool of part‑time instructors focusing on workforce development. The instructor will provide instruction on a variety of employment skills including resume writing, interviewing skills, career alignment, career exploration, and skill building.
The instructor is responsible for developing curriculum, selecting textbooks and materials, completing student evaluations and grading, and maintaining program standards. Additional courses may include basic computer skills, financial planning, and professional or job skills.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop curriculum, select textbooks and materials, complete student evaluations and grading, and maintain program standards.
- Provide instruction to adult learners either online or face‑to‑face classroom setting.
- Maintain proficiency in oral and written communication, working knowledge of MS Office products and classroom technology; teaching experience preferred.
- Work flexible hours: days and nights availability when needed.
- Potential locations include Pinehurst campus, Hoke campus, Robbins campus and community locations.
- Hold an associate’s degree; bachelor’s preferred.
- Stand or sit for extended periods.
- Walk up to one mile.
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Operate assigned equipment.
- Work at computer for long periods.
- Demonstrate effective audio‑visual discrimination and perception for observations, reading, writing, operating equipment, communicating, and handling varied tasks simultaneously.
- Make sound decisions and use good judgment.
- Demonstrate intellectual capabilities and critical thinking to solve problems.
- Work closely with others and periodically work irregular hours.
Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate and/or necessary by the President, Provost, EVP, Dean, Department Chair/Supervisor or the Workforce Skills and Training Coordinator.
