The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for safely loading trucks and/or railcars to fulfill orders accurately while maintaining proper documentation.
Essential Functions/Duties- Work with a safety mindset at all times.
- Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non‑compliance activities.
- Verify order number from truck driver’s paperwork and have Forklift Operators load the material on the truck.
- Perform inventory spot checks.
- Communicate with Sales as required.
- Produce waybills for outbound rail cars and release the cars for pickup by railroad.
- Double‑check trucks are loaded correctly according to the customer’s order (treatments, sizes, grades, quantity, etc.).
- Perform final quality control checks: check for mold, discoloration, etc.
- Create a Bill of Lading for the truck driver and sign off that it is correct.
- Maintain records of orders shipped.
- Use experience to help estimate the weight of the load and keep trucks in the legal limit.
- Ensure loads are tarped except where noted.
- Know the difference between TSO, VMI, stock orders and the handling of each.
- Work in concert with the Scheduler.
- Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
- Perform computer duties as necessary.
- Other duties as directed.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Ability to learn about treatments, lumber and plywood sizes, grades, and species.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
- Ability to read and write and communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
- Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.
- Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one’s ability using their own drive or initiative.
- Ability to effectively operate a forklift.
- Be comfortable working within Windows‑based programs, using a word processor, and email. Must have a good knowledge of spread sheeting.
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Can be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy. May require climbing heights of up to 50 feet.

Immediately upon hire or assignment to the Shipping Coordinator position, training will take place in Safety and Environmental programs. Annual training over all programs.
