Cardiac Catheterization Lab Staff RN Location: Pikeville Medical Center
About the RolePikeville Medical Center is seeking an experienced Cardiac Catheterization Lab RN to support pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures, and interventional cardiac treatments. The RN will monitor patient vitals, assist with procedural sedation, circulate and scrub during procedures, and provide comprehensive patient education.
This role requires advanced competency in cardiac monitoring, vascular access management, moderate sedation, and recovery of patients following interventional cardiac and electrophysiology procedures. Candidates must have strong critical-care experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced procedural environment.
This assignment supports an immediate need for a highly skilled Cath Lab RN.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister patient medications
Assist in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
Circulate and scrub during cardiac catheterization and EP procedures
Perform pre- and post-procedure patient assessments
Monitor and document patient vital signs
Monitor for infection, complications, and sedation-related changes
Prepare patients for procedures and ensure accurate consent documentation
Manage administrative aspects of Cath/EP patient care
Provide discharge teaching on procedures, medications, wound care, activity, and lifestyle changes
Support vascular closure device care, sheath management, and ACT monitoring
Assist with TEE procedures, including bubble studies
Perform blood draws, IV therapy, infusion of blood products, and pain reassessment
Assist with cardioversion, pacemakers, ICDs, and other cardiac devices
Support interventional radiology, vascular procedures, and invasive monitoring
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards
Perform additional duties as assigned
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Schedule: 4×12s (36 or 48 hours/week) Weekends/Holidays: As required by facility needs
Minimum RequirementsRegistered Nurse with active state license
Minimum 2 years of experience required; 5 years preferred
Travel experience required
Critical care or Cath Lab experience preferred
Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and EKG competency
Participation in Amergis Competency program (if applicable)
Current CPR (if applicable)
TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)
Current health certificate (per state/contract regulations)
Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
Strong communication skills;
English proficiency requiredComputer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Travel RN – 36 Hours Hourly Pay: $39.75 Meals: $476 Housing: $770 Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,677 Distance Requirement: Must live 75+ miles from facility
Travel RN – 48 Hours Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,430

Intra-aortic balloon pump insertion and troubleshooting
Spectranetics laser procedures
Cardioversion/defibrillation
Moderate sedation and safety protocols
