DescriptionOut Client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Software Engineer to seek support the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in its mission to foster innovation and protect intellectual property. This role is critical to advancing USPTO’s efforts in modernizing patent and trademark processing through cutting‑edge AI/ML/NLP technologies. You will design and implement advanced solutions in a secure, cloud‑native environment leveraging AWS services, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.
As part of this program, you will help USPTO achieve its strategic goal of improving efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility in intellectual property systems—directly impacting innovation across the nation.
Due to federal security clearance requirements, the applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Responsibilities- Design and develop predictive models using machine learning algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, neural networks).
- Build and integrate AI/ML/NLP solutions within AWS cloud environments, ensuring compliance with USPTO cybersecurity and federal standards nói.
- Apply best practices in software engineering to deliver maintainable, efficient, and secure code.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and technical challenges.
- Utilize Terraform, Git Lab, and Git Lab Runner for CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and security scans.
- Support production deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, demos, and retrospectives.
- Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (Tensor Flow, PyTorch).
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services:
Bedrock, Lambda, ECS, SQS, SNS, S3, Aurora RDS.Proven experience with image transformer models (e.g., Microsoft DiT) for document image understanding. - Familiarity with self‑supervised learning techniques and Transformer‑based document AI tasks.
- Integration of Transformer models into OCR pipelines and image processing using OpenCV.
- Experience with Terraform, Git Lab Runner, and CI/CD automation.
- Education:
Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field. - Certifications:
Any AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, Machine Learning Engineer, Sys Ops Admin, or Cloud Practitioner). - Clearance:
Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
