This is a full‑time 40‑hour weekly position with the Department of Social Services / Human Services Center. Aside from Nursing Manager I responsibilities, the role involves supervising nursing practices and staff, assessing patient needs, implementing interventions, and ensuring medical care is provided to individuals with mental illnesses as per standard nursing practices and agency policy.

The position works a combination of evening and night hours, including every sixth weekend and holiday, with flexible hours for training and charge nurse meetings. Primary hours are 2:30 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.

Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of South Dakota.

• Supervise and monitor individual performance, providing guidance, coaching and motivation
• Keep records and charts

• Instruct or train nursing and direct‑care staff
• Maintain a helpful, sympathetic attitude toward patients

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
