minimum salary: $22.19 (non-engineer students) and $24.73 (engineer students)

• applicant must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in upcoming semester or in the immediately preceding semester.

the intern will participate in conducting pavement distress survey quality control / quality assurance on various types of highway pavements. The intern will be trained on how to identify and quantify pavement distresses on various types of highway pavements. The intern may assist the pavement management engineer with some data analysis outputs from the pavement management system and other programs in the planning squad.

All training is provided by the dot and no previous training or knowledge needed. The position may require overnight stays and typically works 5-8 hour days each week.

preference will be given to students majoring in civil engineering. Preference will be given to students with gis mapping experience.

applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

all students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, south dakota residents, and students of south dakota institutions.
