The South Dakota Department of the Military has a perfect opportunity for you as a Project Manager
.

We are seeking a self‑motivated, determined, positive individual who within the last 5 years or less graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. The successful applicant will be a member of our project‑management team located in Joint Force Headquarters on Camp Rapid, Rapid City, SD.

Team members in this position will utilize AutoCAD software to develop construction plans for smaller projects within a wide variety of trades, manage design and construction of capital improvement projects ranging from $100 K up to $30 M+, review and recommend approval of construction plans and technical specifications, ensure construction plans and technical specifications comply with Federal and State regulations, codes, and standards, provide construction observation and inspection of building projects to ensure compliance with construction plans and technical specifications, coordinate with other engineers, consultants, and various stakeholders to facilitate participation in project design and construction.

This is a 40‑hour per week position with a work week schedule consisting of four, 10‑hour days, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Alternate work schedules may be considered and approved. Work is completed in a typical office environment, but will include oversight of projects throughout the State of South Dakota, requiring occasional overnight travel.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • standard terminology, techniques, and practices of drafting and graphical designs;
  • engineering and scientific principles, practices, and methods

Skills:

  • access, operate, and maintain various software applications (i.e., Microsoft based software, AutoCAD, Blue Beam and ArcGIS);
  • read and interpret construction plans, technical specifications, and regulatory documents.

Abilities:

Position Requirements

Currently have a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering OR graduate in the winter of 2025 with a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering for entry‑level position.
