Minimum Salary: $18.83 Hourly

Application Requirement: Applicant must be a current part‑time or full‑time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in upcoming semester or immediately preceding semester.

The Naturalist Intern will help coordinate, create, and present environmental education programs for school groups, special groups and the general public. Be involved with the development of press releases, posters, Facebook page, and public service announcements. Help with visitor center needs such as cleaning, taking care of interpretive animals and staffing of the visitor center during the week and weekends. Help in coordination of special events.

The courses that would be valuable to this position are Park Management, Biology, Ecology, Ornithology, Speech, Marketing, Outdoor Sciences, education and English. Experience in customer service, working with children and adults, and love for the outdoors is highly recommended.

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part‑time/full‑time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
