The South Dakota Office of the Attorney General and Division of Criminal Investigation is looking for the right individual to serve as the Call Center Representative for the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) program. This program was implemented in 2015 to centralize and automate the victim notifications process for the Courts, Corrections and a majority of the local jails in South Dakota through a SAVIN application and web portal.

The SAVIN application offers minimal information through the web, as well as notifications through phone, text messaging, email, and postal mail.

This position works very closely with the SAVIN Program Coordinator, learning and supporting the SAVIN program. The normal schedule is from 8 A.M. – 5 P.M. Monday through Friday. It involves working heavily with software and technology to receive and send notification information, as well as update the public website. A solid technical background with aptitude for learning complex software is a strong asset.

The selected candidate will serve victims and other SAVIN customers by performing the following duties:

  • Monitoring and addressing tasks in the SAVIN application queues.
  • Contacting victims regarding high‑priority notifications.
  • Monitoring the SAVIN email inbox daily and responding accordingly.
  • Managing the incoming and outgoing SAVIN mail.
  • Answering inbound phone calls and emails regarding:
    • Questions about offender and notification information.
    • Assisting victim and interested‑party registrations.
    • Resetting passwords.
    • Updating victim and interested‑party contact information.
    • General SAVIN program inquiries.

As well as other SAVIN program duties that may arise as needed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Minimum of an associate’s degree, at least one year of customer service experience, and some experience working with or in a legal or law‑enforcement field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient oral and written communication.
  • Experience working with victims.
  • Experience working with law‑enforcement agencies.
  • Advanced computer skills.

Skill To

  • Learn complex software programs.
  • Provide oral and written communication on behalf of the program.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Operate Microsoft Office products.
  • Handle data and process management.
  • Create and maintain documentation.

Ability To

  • Show empathy, common courtesy, patience, and respect to all callers.
  • Pay attention to detail.
  • Establish effective working relationships.
