• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Adhere to all health and civil code regulations.
• Manage cash drawer contents at the start and end of shifts and account for all transactions.
• Scan or record purchases accurately and handle all sales types (cash, EFT, WIC, Food Stamps, manufacturer coupons, gift certificates).
• Bag, package, and handle merchandise according to company policy.
• Assist customers with bulk products and handle damaged or spoiled items.
• Verify customer IDs and enforce store policies on checks and alcoholic beverages.
• Notify management of any irregularities or cash variations exceeding $5.00 or the store‑specific limit.
• Maintain general housekeeping, sanitation standards, and keep checkout, sales, and storage areas clean and organized.
• Use equipment, report malfunctions, and secure the register at all times.
• Observe security standards, report abnormal behavior, and support management with personnel or disciplinary issues.
• Perform any other work‑related duties as assigned.

• High school education preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Ability to calculate figures, discounts, and percentages; apply basic algebra to handle transactions.
• Accuracy in completing reports (daily sales, inventory counts, receiving logs, cash accountability).
• Strong verbal communication, customer service, and telephone skills.
• Proficient reading, writing, and interpreting English instructions.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, and use hands for handling objects, lift up to 50 pounds, and meet vision requirements.

• Vision required for identifying documents and items.
• Ability to climb ladders, sweep, mop, and lift trash containers.
• Response to emergencies (spill cleanup, shoplifting, customer accidents).
• Tolerance to dust, chemical fumes, and refrigerated/frozen storage temperatures as low as –20°F.
• Work environment includes moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to heated ovens.
