Position Summary

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for improving overall transportation effectiveness through daily planning, analysis, and issue resolution while coaching Transportation Analysts and supporting initiatives to streamline processes, enhance OTM’s functionality and/or expand the scope of the solution.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Supports General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1. Ensuring that General Safety and Food Safety are absolute priorities by setting example to others.
  • Coordinates Transport schedules with Shipping and Production departments. Assigns staff and adjusts schedules as needed to ensure all products are delivered in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Monitors weather conditions that might impact schedules; adjusts accordingly.
  • Verifies condition of vehicles; arranges for repairs; makes switches in equipment if necessary.
  • Trains and develops personnel.
  • Oversees loading of product, equipment, supplies, and inter plant mail.
  • Prepares transport records (e.g., documentation of trip sheets, daily reports, overtime, accident investigations, and driver's daily logs and D.V.I.R's).
  • Oversees Company's compliance with all government regulations regarding vehicles and drivers (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). monitors compliance with Company policies and procedures. Oversees safety rules and standards.
  • This is an on-call position: 24-7 for emergencies.
Education And Work History
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. A combination of education, training, and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • 3-4 years of relevant Supervisory experience in Transportation.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Department of Transportation  and regulations in distribution/transportation environment.
  • Strong Leadership And Supervisory Skills Required.
  • Must have working knowledge of bakery operations.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills a must.
  • The ability to work closely in a team-based environment with all associates.
  • The ability to analyze data using the IPM System and to develop intra-departmental teams to establish goals and make decisions for the bakery.
