GL​/ge Programmer

Long & McQuade Musical Instruments began in 1956 in Toronto and has grown into the largest musical instrument retailer in Canada with over 100 locations. We have our own software development teams who maintain our custom POS, accounting, warehousing and web site software systems.

• 6 months contract with possible contract extension
• Schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm

The primary role for this position is to work in a team environment updating and maintaining features in our in house Point of Sale software. This software is written in Progress 4GL and has multiple interfaces with our back office, website and logistics software. This role involves:

• Working independently on development projects with minimal supervision
• Interacting with users (our staff) in regards to projects and support issues.
• Maintaining good coding practices and following programming standards
• Working with a group of programmers to further develop and Maintain our ERP system
• Working with existing web developers to maintain and enhance existing web sites.

• 2+ years of experience with Progress 4GL / Open Edge developing CHUI and GUI applications.
• Good knowledge of Open Edge Reference Architecture.

• Experience with accounting, warehousing, logistics and repair processes.
• Experience writing and implementing reusable business applications using Progress App Server.
• Experience writing Web Services and system integration designs.
• Experience writing web application using PHP, JQuery, JSON and XML.
• Experience writing UNIX/Linux shell scripts.
