We are looking for awesome, self-driven Personal Support Workers to work throughout Durham Region. Please note, we are only looking to proceed with candidates who have part-time WEEKEND availability and meet the scheduling requirements below.
Scheduling Requirements:- Full-Time & Part-Time Positions available: PSW must be available for 12-hour shifts particularly on Saturdays AND Sundays
- MUST be available Saturday and Sunday, flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred.
- MUST be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule for the foreseeable future
- available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day
- Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans.
- Provide companionship and light housekeeping (whatever it takes to help a person stay at home).
- Prepare meals in accordance to the client and/or the family's request (must be open to preparing different kinds of cuisine).
- Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs that is within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker
- Assists clients in all activities of daily living/ hygiene assistance, bathing, grooming, linen changes and so forth.
- Assists clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.
- Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly.
- Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description.
- Completes records and documentations accurately and thoroughly.
- MUST have a valid driver's license and reliable access to a car that can be used for daily work
- Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas of work, an asset if you can travel to rural/remote areas.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
- PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or International nursing/ doctorate Certification
- Negative TB Test completed within the last year
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Valid WHMIS
2015 Certificate of Completion - COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to Ontario’s Human Rights Code
- Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and Diphtheria
REQUIRED,immunization of Hepatitis B is strongly urged. - Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
- Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
- Requires good judgement, the ability to work independently, and work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team
- Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) Registration an asset
