Kinectrics has a growing portfolio of services supporting the development and deployment of new nuclear power plants and lead the life extension projects of existing nuclear power plants in Canada and around the world. As part of our growing design team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design of electrical systems and/or components both in the traditional nuclear market, and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology.

The successful candidate will be working within a multi-discipline engineering team mainly supporting the design engineering team located in Durham Region. The role is within the OPG Site Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation & Control) section, which is focused on leading projects at various OPG sites, e.g. Pickering, Darlington, etc. The role will be engaged in either refurbishment projects and/or new build projects led by Kinectrics OPG site services team.

To deliver electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows:

  • Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team.
  • Provide electrical power distribution design and analysis for operating nuclear and other industrial plants.
  • Perform condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators and other power plant equipment.
  • Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs.
  • Perform engineering change design and analysis following established Engineering Change Control procedures.
