Aecon supports clients with expert project management to the most exacting standards.
Working with our joint venture partner Atkins Realis, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded the definition phase contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to assist in planning the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler replacement (RF ) project. This project involves the refurbishment of four reactors and replacement of the forty eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.
The RF Welding Manager, reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, is responsible for driving industry best welding performance by developing and implementing welding processes used for construction activities. The Weld Program Manager is also responsible for ensuring compliance of the Aecon the welding QA program across the PNGS site.
What You'll Do Here:
Scheduling of technical welding team activities (ie pre-process qualification planning) and representing the welding services group both internally and externallyStrong weld process implementation skills (ie how to transfer a welder process from the booth to the field effectively)Welding related technical trouble shooting management skills and abilitiesManagement of welding team (Etechs, Weld Specialists, Weld Engineers) and specialized weld toolingCollaboration with engineers, technologists, and trades people with ONE Team approach to help our clients succeedEnsuring all work is performed in accordance with Aecon Red Book Safety requirementsConducting technical reviews of Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Requests for Proposals (RFP) and contract specification and drawings for welding requirementsInterpreting drawings, codes, standards, and procedures, and summarizing for project personnelDetermining welding processes and weld consumables and selecting weld procedures and equipment based on the specifications, properties, and characteristics of base metalsCertifying WPS and PQRs and registering with regulatory bodiesPreparing Heat Treatment InstructionsMaintaining records of WPSs, PQRs, Heat Treatment Instructions and welders’ tickets, qualifications, and welding continuityReviewing fabrication drawings and determining joint configurations and weld symbolsPreparing requisitions and Aecon Technical Specifications for the purchase of weld consumables and selecting appropriate Special Purchasing InstructionsAttending team meetings and advising on design, construction, and fabrication issuesReviewing and implementing OPEX’s from project sitesStaying current with and introducing new technologiesWhat You Bring to the Team:
Minimum 5 years of manufacturing, fabrication or related industry experienceStrong working knowledge of ASME Codes Section I, Section II, Section III Division 1, Section VIII Division 1, Section IX, CWB W47.1 and CSA W59, CSA N285, N286 and B51, CSA Z662, API 6D, AWS D1.1/D1.6, ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3.Strong knowledge of engineering materials and metallurgy.Knowledge of CANDU systems in general and field experience at CANDU nuclear plants would be an asset.Certification as a CWB Welding Engineer or Supervisor would be an assetGood working knowledge of VT/MT/PT/RT and UT NDE methodsGeneral knowledge of manufacturing processesResults oriented, takes ownership of tasks assigned.Strong written, verbal communication and problem-solving skillsWorking knowledge with MS based computer applicationsStrong understanding of union environmentEPC project experience is a major assetProven ability to manage, coordinate and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, high pressure, highly professional environment to meet tight deadlinesDue to the nature of work conducted by Can Atom, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employmentOur background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks. The security clearance process includes a comprehensive list of previous residences, employment, education, and other pertinent information. Pay Range: $90,000 - $140,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
