What is the project?
The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program involves designing and building a new deep-water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system. This will involve:
- A 1.5 km-long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15 m diameter slurry TBM);
- Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore);
- An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lake bed.
The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination.
What you will do:
The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the H&S program while ensuring compliance with H&S legislation. They will conduct trainings for management and staff and provide recommendations on augmenting the performance of H&S initiatives and plans.
Concretely, your tasks will be:
Act in a leading role in the development, implementation and management of the Health & Safety programEnsure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholdersDevelop, refine and maintain organizational health and safety programs and strategies to prevent workplace injuriesInfluence and assist companywide in the implementation of Health & Safety training initiativesConduct and create training and communication for management and staff using internal and external resources on Health & SafetyProvide regular reporting and recommendations to senior management on health and safety statistics and performanceImprove the level of excellence in the company’s Health & Safety programs and performanceIdentify and anticipate health and safety concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions; investigates violations & recommends preventative programsCoordinate facility audits and set audit standardsAssist in the daily meetings to report all field incidentsAnalyse the safety incidents and the environment of constructionPropose improved methods of constructionOrganise regular emergency drills to maintain a quick and efficient emergency responseMinimum of 15 years experience in the construction industry, preferably on large infrastructure projectsKnowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety RegulationsCOR Auditor training is preferredStrong communication skillsExhibit strong time management skillsHigh attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solvingDemonstrate practical knowledge of current health and safety legislationProven experience in tunneling or underground works, preferably with TBM operationsFamiliarity with safety management systems and incident reporting toolsExperience working on projects with high-risk environments (nuclear, offshore, or similar)Pourquoi nous rejoindre ?Gross annual salary between 95K and 125K, depending on experience and profile4 vacation weeks & 3 emergency/sickness days paidAnnual bonusesGroup Health Insurance (premium participation including virtual health care system)Wellness spending account;Career development opportunities;A cosmopolite and inclusive work environmentAttractive and challenging project.Entité
