JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for several dynamic, strategic and results‑driven professionals to join our team in the role of Manager, Projects based in Pickering, ON
.

The Manager, Projects is responsible for supervising professional, technical, and trades staff engaged in project new construction, modification and site maintenance activities in a multi‑unit nuclear generating facility. This role will provide leadership in project management including design, cost, schedule, quality, material control, and contract work. The Manager, Projects is responsible for optimization of project implementation. This individual will participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and training programs.

KEY

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Supervise assigned professional, technical, union, and trades staff by assigning tasks, providing instructions, and reviewing work for quality, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Develop work methods and make recommendations to leadership on staffing matters such as training, transfers, promotions, selection, and discipline, including conducting performance appraisals.
  • Administer collective agreements and jurisdictional precedents when assigning work across trade or industrial bargaining groups.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to departmental facilities and project elements, including preparing proposals, cost justifications, and recommended solutions.
  • Define and manage project objectives, scope, schedules, estimates, resource requirements, and integrate contributions from all involved departments and stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical documentation—including specifications, engineering calculations, procedures—and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Instruct staff through lectures, field training, and procedures; coordinate required tests with internal and external groups and maintain departmental procedures.
  • Support budgeting, procurement, R&D recommendations, cost monitoring, and apply quality principles while contributing to staff and personal technical development and training.
EDUCATION
  • 4-year university degree in engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years’ experience in Nuclear, Project Management, and/or related fields.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • PMP an asset.
  • Experience in the operation of nuclear generating plants, including specialized equipment, processes, tooling, techniques, and methods used, and the application of the specialty to nuclear generating stations and associated facilities an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong planning, managerial, and leadership skills.
