What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Nuclear provides a full spectrum of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services, in addition to maintenance and manufacturing services tailored to meet the demanding requirements of the nuclear power industry. Aecon Nuclear’s portfolio of building, refurbishing, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear power facilities reflects a record of project success that ranges from small but essential maintenance contracts, to major construction endeavors.

Working with our joint venture partner Atkins Realis, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded the definition phase contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to assist in planning the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler replacement (RF ) project. This project involves the refurbishment of four reactors and replacement of the forty eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager the Senior Planner is responsible for the development, implementation, training and execution of all project controls processes and systems on a large-complex project.

What You'll Do Here

• Develop & maintain complex construction and engineering resource-loaded schedules in compliance with customer scheduling standards/protocols as specified in the contract
• Develop & maintain basis of schedule documenting all assumptions & parameters underpinning the baseline schedule
• Create lookahead reports, resource profiles & other customized P6 reports
• Assist in project set-up, casting baseline budgets, setting up rules of credit to support earned value management; ensure WBS & CBS alignment
• Liaise with Construction on scheduling sequencing, assist in determining schedule priorities, support constructability reviews
• Proactively identify schedule variances, logic gaps etc.; facilitate the development of recovery plans & other remedial action plans
• Enter daily/weekly progress into the schedule & provide progress status reports
• Maintain detailed baseline or schedule change logs to ensure integrity of the performance measurement baseline
• Regularly perform critical path analysis to flag delays, identify near critical paths & parallel paths within the schedule
• Regularly perform schedule quality analysis utilizing assessment tools (e.g. Acumen Fuse)
