New Grad Program
Candidates selected for this position will be included in Hydro One's New Grad development program. The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles to gain experience on different projects and environments.
Program Eligibility- You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2024, 2025 or will graduate by May 2026
- Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, graduating by May 2026, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program
- Good Academic Standing (a copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)
- Valid, permanent driver s license (Ontario Class G)
This position is in the Maintenance Technical Services department, providing technical support for all substation power equipment, based in the Central Maintenance Services shop in Pickering. Duties include high-voltage insulation testing (including partial discharge testing and loss factor testing) at sites across Ontario. Interest in high-voltage electrical insulation physics is preferred; ability to travel across the province is essential.
Job responsibilities- Assist with specialized advice, guidance, assistance and functional direction to regional and other Hydro One divisions on matters within the assigned function, including equipment or facility design, specifications, commissioning, operation, maintenance, field testing and coordination of service arrangements to restore service.
- Develop, interpret and implement standards, directives and procedures for inspection, commissioning, operation, maintenance, performance and reliability of equipment and systems. Develop or revise equipment work programs to provide maintenance cycles that balance economy and reliability. Visit field locations to instruct or guide field staff on projects.
- Perform technical studies related to engineering design and performance to develop new techniques and modifications. Provide recommendations on design-related aspects, including calculations for loading and safe loading for personnel work access devices.
- Investigate equipment failure or anomalies, conduct field examinations, and determine root causes. Communicate with manufacturers and Hydro One representatives to address deficiencies and required modifications.
- Maintain liaison between regional and Head Office engineering groups to convey viewpoints on station maintenance, replacement or rehabilitation, scheduling of outages, and other activities. Provide operational feedback and recommendations for design revisions.
- Maintain awareness of advancing technology in relevant areas. Prepare instructional material for power maintenance staff and supervisors.

- Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements
- A university undergraduate degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or related field
- Previous co-op/internship experience in a relevant field is an asset
