What is the Opportunity?

The nuclear portfolio of building, refurbishing, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear power facilities reflects a record of project success that ranges from small but essential maintenance contracts to major construction endeavors. Aecon supports clients with expert project management to the most exacting standards. Working with our joint venture partner Atkins Realis, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded the definition phase contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to assist in planning the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler replacement (RF ) project.

This project involves the refurbishment of four reactors and replacement of the forty‑eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. Under the general direction of the Welding Program Lead and Welding Manager, the Welding Coordinator will work with a team of Welding Specialists and Welding Supervisors. The Project Coordinator will support the team and welding program by preparing welding documentation, training welding trades and supporting field readiness and execution.

What

You’ll Do Here
  • Review work instructions, inspection and test plans, technical specifications, drawings and operation and maintenance manuals to support training development per SAT standards and execution.
  • Collect and integrate OPEX and Lessons Learned from previous refurbishment campaigns.
  • Provide boots on the ground coordination, technical and administrative support for all active welding deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project staff in the implementation and maintenance of weld management software (Weld Console).
  • Develop and maintain welding performance statistics and communication dashboards.
  • Provide leadership to those working with welding scope(s) to ensure weld program objectives are met.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Post‑secondary education, preference for Mechanical or welding background (degree or diploma).
  • Industrial construction experience in a coordination role.
  • Knowledge of construction industry best practices for Safety, Quality, Work Planning and Project Controls.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Experience with database management and programming an asset.
  • Good communication, organization, and leadership skills.
