Overview
Here at Pickering Grange we will provide you and your horse with a relaxed, luxurious environment and high quality professional care. We live on‑site providing 24‑hour surveillance and security, so whether you visit daily or weekly, you can feel safe in the knowledge that your horse’s needs will be met. Whatever your discipline, your horse can enjoy all the facilities from competing at our regular shows or clinics to hacking through miles of off‑road accessible countryside.
We offer professional modern facilities for horses and their owners set in the heart of the National Forest. Step into Pickering Grange and appreciate the excellent facilities including American barn style stables, undercover horse walker, indoor, outdoor and free‑schooling dedicated arenas, heated tack rooms, indoor hot water wash‑down and solarium area.
- Turning out and bringing in
- Mucking out
- Feeding, watering and haying
- Grooming
- Clipping and trimming
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
- Bandaging
- Tacking up
- Lunging/long rein
- Riding
- Assisting with events
- Field maintenance
The right candidate will also have the opportunity to groom for Rachel (owner) at one of her events. A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on.
Apprenticeship & TrainingWithin this role, the successful candidate will be working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Equine with further training and employment available for the right candidate. You will receive full training from the employer and KEITS at the place of employment, working towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of the apprenticeship. Progression onto Level 3 is available for the right candidate.
DesiredSkills & Qualities
- Must be able to work alone at times and as part of a team
- Outgoing with a love of horses, a great team player and a wish to learn all about horses and their care
- Applicants must have some experience of handling horses and show this on application
- Good communication, committed, reliable, friendly
- GCSEs or equivalent in maths and English are desired
Accommodation and livery can be provided. Due to the nature of horses, apprentices will be required to work weekends. KEITS Training Services Ltd reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the listed closing date should the need arise.
