The Permit Administrator I is responsible for managing full-cycle permitting and inspection coordination for residential Reconstruction (Recon) and Rehabilitation (Rehab) projects under the CDBG disaster recovery program.
This role requires advanced knowledge of residential construction, permitting processes, and inspection sequencing. The Permit Administrator II works independently and ensures projects remain compliant with local, state, and federal requirements.
Primary Responsibilities- Prepare, submit, and manage residential building permits from application through close-out.
- Interface directly with building departments, planning and zoning offices, and inspectors.
- Review construction plans for permit readiness and coordinate revisions as needed.
- Track permit approvals, re-submittals, and corrections.
- Schedule and monitor all required inspections (footing, slab, framing, MEP, final).
- Communicate inspection outcomes to Project Managers and Superintendents.
- Track and ensure resolution of deficiencies.
- Maintain audit-ready project files in compliance with CDBG program requirements.
- Assist with Certificate of Occupancy and final project close-out documentation.
- Support reporting deadlines and compliance documentation for program oversight.
- Demonstrates leadership, accountability, and ownership of permitting workflow.
- Maintains strong working relationships with municipal officials and field teams.
- Communicates clearly and professionally under deadlines.

- Strong knowledge of residential construction sequencing and inspection processes.
- Working understanding of Florida building codes and permitting regulations.
- Ability to manage high-volume permit tracking independently.
- Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction documentation systems.
- Minimum 1-3 years of permit administration experience required.
- Experience in residential reconstruction and/or rehabilitation required.
- Construction administration or inspection experience required.
- Experience in CDBG, FEMA, or disaster recovery programs preferred.
- High-paced disaster recovery environment with shifting priorities and strict compliance deadlines.
- Regular coordination with municipal offices and field operations.
- Occasional travel to Florida could be requested.
