- The Monitor Technician performs high-level on-going patient surveillance and provides nursing/clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rate/rhythm.
- Responsible for monitoring, recording, and reporting heart rhythm from patient cardiac monitors.
- Depending on location may also monitor seizure and fall risk activity for patients with orders of telemetry, and general patient observation.
- Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge.
- Conducts maintenance and troubleshooting related to the monitoring equipment on the patient to ensure equipment is in working order to allow for clear monitoring.
