Overview

• The Mammography Technologist administers ionizing radiation when performing screening and/or diagnostic mammograms according to established protocols.
• The Mammography Technologist demonstrates an understanding of breast anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology as they relate to the procedure.
• Maintains a high degree of accuracy in breast positioning, exposure techniques, and evaluation of imaging parameters to optimize patient imaging and care while adhering to radiation protection and safety standards.
• Integrates technical skills, patient interaction, and care to obtain viable diagnostic information as ordered by the physician.
• Utilizes independent professional judgment and critical thinking to obtain diagnostic information when possible and seeks direction from a MQSA-qualified interpreting physician or lawful institutional policies to continue or discontinue the exam.
• Is sensitive to the physical, cultural, and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner.
• Participates in quality improvement processes and continually assesses professional performance.
• Understands the complexities of state and federal regulations and has knowledge of quality control and quality assurance requirements for mammography.
• Work schedule:
  
  Now 4 days/week, M-Th 6:30am-5:30pm & Fri 6:30am-3:30pm; moving to 5 days/week.

• Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for the role.
• Post High School Diploma Program
