Pay range: $37.00/hr – $40.00/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).
Tectonic is actively seeking candidates for a full-time Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor to work on an upcoming project in Chester County, PA.
Essential Functions- Responsible for daily supervision of inspection staff, traveling to project sites to perform daily inspection of construction work within a given discipline to ensure the project is in compliance with plans and specifications;
- Planning, assigning, and reviewing work of TCI staff, including training inspection personnel and making on‑site technical decisions;
- Monitor contractor’s daily activities and use applicable field testing and inspection procedures and equipment to perform required field testing; measure quantities, draw sketches, and other related methods;
- Prepare daily field reports, communicating deficiencies observed to project managers, contractors, and client representatives;
- Interpret drawings and documents, including work orders and build documents;
- Follow project safety protocol;
- Perform any related duties to ensure successful completion of assigned projects.
- Candidates must meet PennDOT TCIS-2 or TCM-1 experience and training requirements;
- Basic understanding and ability to interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents for work orders and build documents;
- Effective communication with clients, supervisors, and inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results;
- Detail‑oriented with capability to detect non‑conformities during testing procedures and complete detailed reports timely;
- Ability to complete required safety training within a reasonable period of time;
- A valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to project sites.
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment, and communicate about them. The employee also regularly moves around on project sites and buildings, ascends or descends the landscape or a ladder, and positions themselves appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, often for prolonged periods.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 lbs, and sometimes up to 55 lbs. Frequent outdoor work in extreme heat, cold, and precipitation. Occasional operation of a computer and other office machinery. May require operating a motor‑vehicle, remaining stationary for extended periods.
