This position supports maintenance operations for a high-volume flight training environment operating a fleet of general aviation aircraft. As an A&P Mechanic, you’ll handle both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance while working closely with instructors, maintenance leadership, and operations teams to keep aircraft safe and available. The role is well suited for mechanics who are detail-oriented, safety-driven, and comfortable managing priorities in a fast-moving training setting.
Four technician levels are offered, with structured progression and hourly pay ranging from $36 to $48 based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated performance.
- Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on flight school aircraft in compliance with FAA regulations and internal maintenance procedures.
- Interpret and apply technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, IPCs, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
- Accurately document all maintenance performed and ensure aircraft are returned to service in an airworthy condition.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
- Communicate clearly with maintenance staff, instructors, and management regarding aircraft status and maintenance timelines.
- Support daily workflow by adjusting priorities based on operational and training needs.
- Remain flexible with shift coverage, including day, night, and 10-hour shifts as required.
Licensing & Education
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate — required
- Ability to obtain Inspection Authorization (IA) within three months of hire — required
- High school diploma or equivalent — preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of general aviation experience as a certificated A&P
- Experience with Piper aircraft preferred
- G1000 avionics experience is a plus
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills with the ability to make independent airworthiness determinations
- Working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43 and 91
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and willingness to learn Talon RMS or similar maintenance tracking systems
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation standards
- Self-directed, adaptable, and able to perform in a dynamic flight training operation
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required
- Work may involve standing, bending, kneeling, or stooping for extended periods
- Exposure to standard aviation environments including fuel, solvents, aircraft noise, outdoor conditions, and hangar operations
- Regular use of shop tools, ground equipment, vehicles (van, truck, cart), and aircraft
