ASDB Drivers protect our students as they travel to and from school. They ensure students reach school and return home safely, treating each student with respect and awareness of their disabilities to make the experience as smooth and secure as possible.
Safety Sensitive PositionThis role requires pre‑employment drug testing and is subject to random drug testing throughout the duration of employment. It demands rigorous adherence to safety regulations to prevent serious liabilities, injury or loss of life.
Responsibilities- Safely operate the state vehicle according to a set daily schedule.
- Maintain the vehicle in good operating condition at all times.
- Pick up and drop off students per schedule, enforcing order and security.
- Interact courteously with residents, members of the public, and stakeholders, addressing and reporting complaints.
- Conduct pre‑trip/post‑trip inspections and maintain accurate records of any incidents.
- Enforce student discipline within the vehicle and uphold school policies.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of driving experience. Be prepared to participate in:
- ASL classes provided by the Agency.
- Learning a vocabulary of frequently used words to communicate in ASL with students and staff.
- Valid Arizona State Driver’s License in good standing (39‑month MVD report).
- Pass FBI and State background check or obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Complete the Defensive Driver Training Program.
- For work directly with students: obtain CIT (Crisis Intervention Training), CPR, and First Aid Certification.
- Willingness to participate in annual and random drug and alcohol testing.
- Policy, procedure, and programs of the immediate work unit.
- Administration and management principles and practices.
- Agency or program rules, regulations, and operating procedures.
- Arizona rules and regulations related to pupil transportation.
- Read gauges and indicators of a vehicle and prepare a report.
- Operate the vehicle safely and in compliance with Arizona statutes.
- Maintain a courteous, professional manner.
- Follow the scheduled route within the allotted timeline.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly.
