The Rescue & Transport Coordinator will assist the Transport Programs Manager and Supervisor in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Transport Programs Department. This includes the Rescue Partners Program, Working Cat Program, Project Reachout Program, Community Cat Program and the daily operations of the Transport Team. They will build and maintain positive relations with rescue partners, reachout source partners, customers and internal teams by providing exemplary customer service, timely responses and resources.
They will ensure department operations run smoothly.
- High school diploma / GED preferred.
- Must be 21 years old.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Minimum of two years' experience in providing exemplary customer service. Experience in working with challenging customers a plus.
- Must be able to handle animals in all conditions and be able to train co-workers and volunteers in job duties and safe animal handling.
- Previous experience in coordination or supervision of a team a plus.
- Previous experience in veterinary field a plus. Ability to perform health checks, exams and vaccinations preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service skills required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; and social media platforms, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
- Review working cat and community cat candidates, pass candidates to surgery, manage excel spreadsheet of client data and perform working cat releases or deliveries to clients.
- Travel to shelters in need, transport animals from shelters in need, perform medical evaluations of animals and maintain data in shelter software system.
- Coordinate internal transport of animals between AHS locations, and build transport lists to AHS locations.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities as a member of the department's leadership team, including assisting Manager and Supervisor in training and coaching employees and volunteers, as well as maintaining employee documentation and ensuring that employees are meeting position expectations.
- Act as trainer for new department staff and volunteers. Ensure all staff members are familiarized with and proficient in Transport, and cross-trained in Rescue, Working Cat, Community Cats, and Project Reachout standard operating procedures and best practices.
Regular attendance and punctuality are required. All Transport positions are required to drive AHS vehicles and are designated as safety sensitive; misdemeanor and felony charges and/ or convictions, inability to pass driving background, or failure to pass drug or background screening may disqualify candidates from the position.
Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to drive vehicles, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to a height of 4 feet. There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes;
occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Typical work environment will be out of the office, driving a truck in a safe manner, working in the field.
