Job Description

Role:
Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Line RON). This role is part of the Phoenix, Arizona (PHX) team and involves servicing and maintaining Southwest’s all-Boeing fleet - the largest Boeing 737 fleet in the world. The technician collaborates with AMTs and various teams in Technical Operations (Tech Ops) and Ground Operations (Ground Ops to ensure an airworthy fleet and on-time flight schedule.

Pay & Benefits
  • Pay of $34.73 per hour, plus $8.50/hr A&P Premium for A&P licenses. Opportunity for future increase per applicable collective bargaining agreement wage scale. Opportunities for overtime and shift premiums.

Responsibilities
  • Works in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our Company
  • Performs work generally recognized as Mechanic's work in airline operations in shops, maintenance bases, and stations—checks, dismantling, overhauling, repairing, fabricating, assembling, welding, erecting, and painting all parts of aircraft and related systems
  • Must meet any physical ability requirements listed in this description
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Leaders, with all internal and external customers
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Must read and comprehend maintenance procedures manuals, wire diagrams, blueprints, Aircraft Change Orders, and related documents
  • Follow instructions, learn, understand, and comply with maintenance procedures, rules and regulations
  • Write accurate and complete summaries of work on required forms and sign to verify work
  • Proficient in computer skills to access and complete computer-based training modules
  • Meet all training requirements in a timely manner
  • Aware of hazardous situations and capable of handling emergencies
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment with deadlines to meet flight schedules
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team and manage stressful situations
  • Communicate information and instructions in writing, verbally, or via radio
  • Provide friendly service and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers
Education
  • Required:

    High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Required:

    2 years of Aircraft Maintenance Experience, including 1 year of Heavy Jet Aircraft Maintenance Experience (12,500 lbs or more)
  • Required:

    Must meet recency of experience requirements of CFR 65.83
  • To satisfy recent work experience, applicant must have actively worked using their A&P license for at least 6 of the preceding 24 months
  • As operations permit, AMT classification applicants who cannot meet this requirement may work under supervision for six months and may be required to attend additional training
Licensing/Certification
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Valid Federal A&P Certificates, as required by Federal Law
Physical Abilities
  • Must be able to perform all job functions in cramped and confined spaces and hazardous areas
  • Must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop repeatedly
Other Qualifications
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company standards
  • U.S. citizen or authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Comply with Company attendance standards
  • Possess the tools required to perform routine aircraft maintenance
  • Able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime
  • Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any period
  • 401(k) match contributions are subject to the plan’s vesting schedule
  • Profit Sharing contributions are at the discretion of the Company
