About This Position

Over 52 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2024, one of the busiest airports in the country and the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System – Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports – operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact over $44 billion annually.

Currently, there is one vacancy in the Airport Duty Manager program with the Public Safety and Security Division of the Aviation Department. Airport Duty Managers oversee the day‑to‑day activities of the entire airport complex, including airside, landside, the terminals, and outlying properties in regard to maintenance issues, customer service and all airport operations for the Aviation Department.

This position serves as the principal Aviation Management Representative ensuring situational awareness and the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the entire airport complex during emergencies, weather and special events, and day‑to‑day operations. The Airport Duty Manager is an integral part of decision making and crisis management during regular business hours and the ranking staff member on property during off hours.

The airport executive team will rely on this person to make decisions and give directions in their absence.

This position is in a 24‑hour per day, 365 days per year operation. This role will work irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and overnight. Shift assignments will rotate.

Salary

Pay Range: $93,121 to $137,592 annually. Hiring Range: $93,121 to $124,800 annually.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in airport operations, general aviation, or maintenance.
  • Three years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in airport or business management, or a related field.
  • These positions are in a 24‑hour a day, 365 days a year operation. Positions will work irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Shift assignments will rotate.
  • Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
