Summary:
Under direct supervision, responsible for inventory processing, movement and control; performs accurate product identification, movement and preparation for shipping; and related work as required. Responsible for the safe operation of loading and unloading and timely deliveries to company and customer locations. Assist in monitoring the security of the warehouse and product within the warehouse. Physical attendance at work is an essential function of the DS4 position.
Job requires frequent interactions and face to face with co-workers. Duties and other tasks require employee attendance in the office. This is a safety sensitive position.
- Understand and carry out the Corporate Mission Statement and Corporate Ethical Standards.
- Provide fast and friendly service by following "Customer First" standards in person or on the phone.
- Safely operate manual material handling equipment and, when certified, operate powered material handling equipment.
- Use powered material handling equipment to receive, stock, pick and load bulk equipment such as furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, etc.
- Pull customer orders from warehouse and load into company delivery trucks, customer vehicle or stage items for pick up while using safe material handling procedures.
- Prepare product for stocking and subsequent shipment including, receipt verification, stocking, picking, packaging, labeling and following stacking procedures.
- Load/unload product by hand or by using material handling equipment (MHE) and place product in assigned stocking areas. Ensure product is stacked safely and securely.
- Verify accuracy of incoming orders by counting before product is securely stocked on racking and organized/stocked correctly to prevent damage. Immediately report discrepancies, damage, safety issues and accidents to supervisor.
- Initiate self-evaluation of safety procedures and follow safety procedures at all times.
- Use information system for product control and inventory accuracy to include receiving, stowage and shipping of product.
- Identify and process all cross-dock eligible product.
- Exercise precautions necessary to protect product from damage in stowage or during movement and ensure accurate inventory counts.
- Maintain appearance of the warehouse and entire facility. Duties include but are not limited to clearing of debris, pallets and cartons, sweeping, cleaning bathroom, emptying trash and tidying shelves.
- Answer telephone and give out routine information and take messages.
- Cross training regarding activities specific to other departments as directed by supervisor.
- Ensure all product leaving the facility is billed appropriately.
- Drive company vehicle to the delivery destination (customer location, job site, other company locations), confirm order with customer, unload and verify product. Notify supervisor of delivery errors (i.e. short ships, damaged product, etc.), immediately.
- Performs pre-trip inspections of vehicle to ensure vehicle is in good condition and properly maintained. Complete Driver's Log, daily delivery log and vehicle maintenance forms. Maintain up-to-date and accurate vehicle documentation (registration, tags, insurance, stickers, etc.).
- Abide by customer directed delivery instructions regarding parking, entrances, exits, etc.
- Produce and complete accurate paperwork including but not limited to invoices, and C.O.D.'s, special orders, vendor purchase orders, shipping and receiving paperwork.
- Verify vehicle is fueled in accordance to management instructions and business need and notifies management of needed repairs.
- Observe all traffic regulations and prevents distracted driving (i.e. no cell phone use while driving, etc.).
- Professionally represent the R.E. Michel Company by wearing the approved company uniform and abiding by company grooming standards at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Selected individuals will be required to be certified within a set period of time to operate powered material handling equipment, ability to lift 75 pounds repetitively for short periods of time.
- Must be 18 years of age to operate a forklift.
- 1- 2 years' experience working in a warehouse environment preferred but not required.
- 1+ years' experience driving box truck or other delivery vehicle preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of spelling, grammar, and basic arithmetic.
- Ability to begin work at the start of designated shift.
- Valid operator's license for the correct class of vehicle(s) at the branch. Ability to obtain and maintain DOT physical card upon hire.
