Overview

CPLC De Colores Domestic Violence programs provides a safe, secure for families to heal from the traumatizing effects of abuse. Shelter and community‑based services meet survivors where they are to help them discover their strengths and regain their freedom.

Position Summary

Provide trauma‑informed advocacy, crisis intervention, assist survivors in safety planning and sexual assault supportive services, i.e. life skills, community outreach, employment and housing. The Sexual Assault Advocate will apply a trauma‑informed care and strengths‑based approach as well as culturally relevant services when working with survivors.

Provide advocacy for survivors of Interpersonal Violence i.e.: sexual assault, intimate violence, stalking, and dating violence at the individual and system level.

Coordinate, implement, and participate in education and outreach activities for individuals, groups, and organizations within the target population with the goal of increasing awareness of sexual assault and its impact, knowledge of available services for victims of sexual assault; and access to these services.

Develop contacts and build relationships with partner agencies and institutions to expand target communities. Effectively manages solid relationships with other agency partners.

Assisting with the daily operations of the advocacy service and ensuring that all data and client documentation is appropriately and confidentially maintained.

Successfully complete 40 hours of SVCA training required within 6‑months of hire date.

Meet clients in the community as well as support off‑site outreach and events.

Participate in ongoing supervision, clinical and team meetings.

The Sexual Assault Advocate may be required to follow other instructions and to perform other duties upon the request of the De Colores Community Based Program Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
  • High School Diploma or GED with 3-5 years of experience within the domestic violence/sexual assault field and/or community outreach work.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, human services, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work with families in crisis and be able to offer supportive services.
  • Ability to work in an active environment and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent networking skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly desired.
  • Valid driver’s license and operational, registered and insured vehicle.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule as needed per program requirements.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have good organization and time management skills.
  • Must have current Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to have within 60 days of employment.
  • Must pass in‑depth background check to include State and Federal criminal history and employment history.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
